SPRINGDALE, Pa — Every year, our student ministry hosts a retreat to the beach, and this year I got to make the video to recap our trip.
For as long as I have been a student (and longer), we’ve always had the long-anticipated recap video after our summer break from youth group. Now, that I am a youth leader at the student ministry, I was asked to help lead the team and produce the video. Our team is not made up of professional cinematographers, but a team of people who care about capturing students memories. Whether that be their baptism, worship experiences, or just the fun that they had.
Some of my responsibilities included:
- Building a team of photographers and videographers (with varying skillsets) to capture important moments
- Photograph/Video baptisms
- Collect, sort, and edit all clips together using Final Cut Pro X
In the past, I have sent out a technical document with details on how to shoot the best quality video on iPhones and made a weekend schedule, however, this year, with how the weekend went, I just wanted videos! I have included examples of the schedule and technical guidelines.
